RD2 - HTS Conductors and HTS Technologies
The main goals of the RD2 Line are:
- Develop conductors and feed the magnet program, including extensive characterization measurements. Present Focus is on REBCO
- Novel materials: explore the potential of promising new materials, e.g. iron based superconductors
- Explore HTS magnet technology at magnetic fields beyond the reach of Nb3Sn: conceive/develop cables and model coils and model inserts aiming at demonstrating feasibility and addressing the limitations of HTS for accelerator quality magnet
